Eastside Hawks are a Melbourne-based volleyball club competing in the Victorian Volleyball League. The project involved designing a new playing uniform that would unify a previously fragmented program and elevate the club’s visual presence.
The design strategy was centred around creating a modern, dynamic uniform that honoured the club’s history whilst also defining its future direction. A key constraint was balancing aesthetics and performance with inclusivity, ensuring the uniform was appropriate and comfortable for players of all genders and ages.
Building on refined elements from the previous kit, the design introduced a distinctive new side panelling concept featuring a triangular block-style gradient. The concept offers a nuanced interpretation of the tiered feather structure of a hawk’s wing. Bold colours and graphic elements seek to reflect the emotion, precision, and intensity of the game, while also enhancing the brand’s energy and personality. The bold, italicised sans-serif typeface was selected for its clarity and legibility, adding a sense of movement and impact to the overall identity.
